Jack Nickel entered the portal after his redshirt freshman season at Michigan State in 2023 and is now playing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2023, he appeared in ten games for the Spartans and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection.

The 6’4” 245 lbs. tight end was a 2018 state champion, 2-time All-State selection, and a 2021 state runner-up at Milton High School in Milton, Georgia.

As a senior, Jack achieved a historic record of starting in 53 games, an all-time record at Milton High.

In a run-oriented offense, Jack was the pillar for blocking for running backs who rushed consistently for 1500 yards a season and caught 84 passes for 1008 yards in

his career with 18 touchdowns. Jack is pursuing a degree in Finance. He is the son of Paul Nickel, a software executive and a four-year letter winner at Stanford University (1989-1993) who also played tight end. His mother is Lisa Nickel, a Northeastern graduate who swam in college and is now a special education teacher. Jack’s favorite player is Rob Gronkowski, and he lists his parents as his biggest supporters and role models.
